BHPian Jeroen recently shared this with other enthusiasts: After returning home from the Stichting Historische Verbrandingsmotoren Papendrecht – a unique Diesel Engine Museum in Netherlands, I decided to try and open up the brake booster of the Spider that we had just changed out. I wanted to try and find out what was wrong with it. I also had this idea of making this another cut-away model. However, as I took it apart, lots of bits simply broke. The internal balancing piston. In the end, I did manage to extract the internal valve completely. And it looks as if one of the seals was damaged. Which means the booster won’t hold its vacuum properly anymore. Unfortunately, taking the booster apart had been a bit of a brutal affair. Too much damage to certain parts. No way I can turn this into a nice cut-away model. Oh well, I am sure, with my 5 classic cars, and Peter’s other 5 classic cars, other parts will eventually make it to become a cut-away display.
