Route from Pune to Murud beach Dapoli: 1) Pune > Tamhini > Mangaon > Mahad > Latvan > Dapoli > Murud beach. Roads till before Latvan are good. Once you start descending towards Dapoli the roads are bad especially in the ghats. Thereafter also there are patch works on roads till Murud beach. While returning (22nd Dec) from Murud beach Dapoli to Pune, I didn’t want to take the above route. So returned via Khed > NH66. It was around 25-30 kms more but better roads. 2) Murud beach > Dapoli > Khed > NH66 > Mangaon > Tamhini > Pune Road from Murud till Khed still had some rough patches with resurface work going on, but still better than “Mahad > Latvan > Dapoli > Murud” patch. After joining NH66, it smooth sailing (except 1 diversion) till Mangaon and then Pune via Tamhini. If you are planning to visit Murud beach, Karde beach, or any near one, ill prefer taking the detour from Khed(#2 above) . Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
