BHPian mobike008 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Last month, one of those impromptu events happened. I have a few college buddies in the US and we plan to meet at least once a year if not more often. Sometimes like this via. A work trip. One buddy is in the Bay Area, another in New Jersey and another in Raleigh, North Carolina. NJ buddy had a work trip to San Diego, California and it so happened that I had a work trip in San Francisco, California, around the same time. And, our naughty minds came to play and we decided to meet in San Diego and party one night there and spend the weekend crossing the border and spend a couple more nights of the weekend in Mexico. Well, nothing more to say except that after a fun night in San Diego, we crossed the border to Mexico and passed Tijuana, which is an absolutely dangerous looking place (Reminded me of all the Mexican drug cartel movies/series) with constant movement of open trucks with armed personnel with assault rifles, camouflage uniforms and masks. Tijuana looked like a war zone. Period! From San Diego, we took a train to the border and got off the train and crossed the border on foot. It was less than a minute for the formalities and when we were on the other side. We hailed an UBER to a Costco and picked up some supplies and then UBER’d again to a beautiful resort that we booked in Ensenada, MEXICO. From the border for at least 5 miles, the US border fence is visible, which looks like a massive fortress running along the highway. It was around 80 kms from the border and I was blown away by the views as this entire drive was spectacular. Entire 80kms is via. coastline and this area is known as Baja California and all through this route was littered with spectacular resorts facing the beach. We spent 2 days in the resort and enjoyed the beaches and some great Mexican cuisine. The area reminded me of a cleaner, prettier version of Goa. Monday morning, took an UBER back to the US border and crossed over and I took yet another UBER to the airport to fly into San Francisco, CA. My pals had their flight a few hours later, so they started late from the resort to catch their respective flights to their destination. It was a memorable weekend spent with college buddies. P.S : Didn’t take many pictures, so just some random pictures of our time in beautiful Ensenada, Mexico. Landing in Beautiful San Diego. Heading towards Ensenada, Mexico This side is Mexico and on the other side of that massive fence is the US. Spectacular scenery all through this 80kms drive. Passing through scenic towns. Toll gates had heavy security with folks toting assault rifles. Cruise Ship. I wonder where it originates from. Ensenada Beach with the Bay Area Friend. 3 Musketeers. We have done Colombia, Peru and Mexico together. Continue reading about mobike008’s trip for BHPian comments, insights and more information.
