Waqf board decides to build international school for Muslim children in Nellore

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board has announced plans to establish the first-ever international school in Nellore. The project, estimated at ₹15 crore, will be funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions.Board chairman Shaik Abdul Azeez said the school will be built on 13 acres of waqf land belonging to Jamia Masjid in Nellore. Of this, five acres will be earmarked for the school, three acres for mosque-related facilities, and the remaining land developed for commercial use to generate sustainable income for waqf activities and community welfare.Azeez clarified that the proposal was placed before municipal administration minister Narayana, who assured support by mobilising donors. He stressed that Narayana’s role is limited to donor facilitation, while the school will be fully owned and managed by the Wakf Board.Rejecting rumours of privatisation, Azeez cautioned against politicising wakf properties. “Narayana is only a donor facilitator. The Wakf Board alone will manage and administer the international school,” he reiterated. He emphasised that the initiative reflects the govt’s vision of inclusive development and empowerment through education, while ensuring wakf assets are utilised transparently and productively.Expressing gratitude to minister Narayana, Azeez said the project will provide world-class education while preserving cultural values, opening new opportunities for students from economically weaker sections. In-charge Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav, Karimulla, Mainuddin, Imtiyaz, Kalesh, Riyaz, and others were present.
