Haq is the latest courtroom drama from Bollywood featuring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Sheeba Chaddha played an important role. The movie directed by Suparn Verma received applause from critics but at the box office it couldn’t leave a mark.
Haq completed its theatrical run and is gearing up for its OTT debut. The movie is likely to start streaming from January 2nd on Netflix. An official announcement is awaited. Given its genre, Haq is expected to gain good traction in the digital space.
The film depicts a woman’s fight for justice at the centre, questioning long-held beliefs around marriage, law and rights. Haq is based on one of India’s most significant legal milestones, the Supreme Court judgment in Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum.
The movie is produced jointly by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja under the banners of Junglee Pictures, Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios.
