Mahindra & Mahindra appears to be gearing up for updates to its popular lifestyle off-road SUVs – the 3-door Thar and the Thar Roxx. Both models have recently been spotted testing on Indian roads. While the official launch timelines of the facelifted Thar and Thar Roxx are yet to revealed, they are expected to arrive sometime in mid or the second half of 2026. Here’s what we know and can expect from the new 2026 Mahindra Thar and Thar Roxx facelifts.

Spy images suggest that the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift will receive subtle design changes and feature upgrades inspired by the Thar Roxx. Upfront, the SUV will feature a slightly revised grille and circular LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs. The spotted test mule was seen wearing 19-inch alloy wheels and a revised LED taillamp signature.

One of the major feature enhancements could be the introduction of Level-2 ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system) along with an auto dimming IRVM, auto-folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad and keyless entry with push-button start.

Mechanically, the new 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is likely to remain unchanged. The SUV will continue to come with the 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, 119bhp, 1.5L diesel and 132bhp, 2.2L diesel engine options. The 4WD system could be offered as standard with the more powerful diesel engine.

Details of the new 2026 Mahindra Thar Roxx facelift are not available at the moment. However, the updated model is rumoured to receive a new powertrain option, possibly a 1.5L diesel. Currently, the Thar Roxx comes with three engine options – 162bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel and 152bhp, 2.2L diesel engine.

Most of the features are expected to be carried over, including a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument TFT screen, a 10.2-inch free-standing infotainment system, auto dimming IRVM, rear AC ents, front and rear armrests, a camera-based Level-2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability program, traction control program, electronically locking rear differential, Crawl Smart Assist (CSA), Intelli Turn Assist (ITA) and more. Only minimal cosmetic changes are expected for the updated Thar Roxx.
