Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy charged the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) with falsely propagating that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is acting at the behest of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naiduas it wants to hide its failures on Krishna water projects and water allocation agreements in the last 10 years.

“You can’t confuse the people raking up names of neighbouring states’ politicians. The results of the previous two elections are an enough indications,” he said adding that these constant claims were to revive the sagging political fortunes.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that BRS MLA T. Harish Rao was behaving as if he alone had complete knowledge of TMCs and cusecs, and was trying to project himself as the sole authority on water matters.

He alleged that during the 10-year BRS rule, not a single project on the Krishna river in south Telangana, initiated during the earlier Congress regime and by late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was completed. He questioned why, after the formation of Telangana, when 69% of the Krishna river flows through Telangana territory, the then BRS government under K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Mr. Harish Rao agreed to accept only 299 TMCs out of 812 TMCs of Krishna waters. “Why did Harish Rao not stage a dharna before the Central Water Commission then?” he asked.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy recalled several statements made by former Chief Minister KCR in the past, including claims about 3,000 TMCs of Godavari water flowing into the sea and remarks made in Andhra Pradesh, which he said had now come back to haunt the party.

He alleged that it was KCR who initially gave the green signal to Banakacherla. The MP clarified that during the meeting with the Union Jal Shakti Minister, discussions were held on telemetry systems and Banakacherla was not discussed. “I attended the meeting as a Member of Parliament.”
