BHPian GTX+ recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Route Update- Due to an unavoidable reason, I had to leave very late, around 2AM in the night. Took me more than 24 hours to reach VD, with a stop over of approx. 6 hours for a shut eye – Experienced dense foggy stretches on NE4 right from FDB till few KMs beyond SWM (on the Lalsot-Kota mega highway). On some stretches the fog was so dense that visibility was less than 10 meters and so I drove at speeds of 25-30 kmph with extreme focus up ahead and behind me. – Unlike my last trip, did not encounter any heavy traffic or jams on the Kushtala – Laban and Gopalpura – Chechat (via Morak) stretches. Probably due to the time of the day I crossed – The last operational stretch on NE4 (before entering Guj) from Chechat to Thandla was a very bumpy ride with lot of sections having uneven surface. Better to drive between 80-100 kmph speed – There is now an operational food court on this stretch, where I took my nap break. – This stretch is also notorious for encroachers and wrong side driving, especially closer to Thandla. 4 times I encountered young children/men from nearby villages standing in the middle of the road and clicking selfies/each other/making reels. On once instance, a young man was standing in the middle of the right most lane, just after a curve, clicking a pic of his friend who was standing in the median. Due to the curve, I could not see him till the last minute, even though I was in the middle lane (2nd from right). – On this stretch, there is a place under a flyover where villagers get on the highway on the wrong side on their bikes, at times with wife/kids and drive full speed. Observed this last time as well. Same place, same scene. There was also a maniac who was driving his brand new car, wrong side on the right most late!! – Road surface post Thandla till upto Vadodara was superb, baring a few stretches near Thandla. – Will be returning on 2nd or 3rd Jan.
