Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman has been hired by the Miami Dolphins as a consultant assisting in their search for a general manager.
The story was first reported by ESPN, which also employs Aikman as analyst for “Monday Night Football.” A league source confirmed the report to The Post.

Aikman, 59, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys, will not hold a permanent role with the Dolphins.

A league source said Dolphins owner Stephen Ross selected Aikman because of his widespread NFL contacts and a desire to have an outside voice in the search.
Dan Marino, an advisor to Ross, also will assist, giving the Dolphins two Hall of Fame quarterbacks helping with the search.
The Dolphins parted with general manager Chris Grier in October. Champ Kelly has been interim GM since.
