Vijayawada: A case was registered against a 47-year-old jewellery trader on charges of sexual harassment and stalking, based on a complaint lodged by a woman with the I Town police. The police booked the accused under Sections 75 and 78 of the BNS, and served him notices. According to I Town circle inspector Gunaram, accused Sanjay Jain runs a silver jewellery shop in the city. The woman, who worked at his shop, reportedly faced financial difficulties, and to help her tide over the crisis, Jain allegedly gave her a valuable silver ornament. However, the victim alleged that Jain began sexually harassing and stalking her as she was unable to return the ornament. The CI said the woman lodged the complaint on Dec 22, after which the police registered a case. TNN
