Hyderabad: The opposition BRS on Friday staged a protest over the urea shortage in the assembly and demanded a discussion on the issue. As soon as the session began, BRS leaders entered the House holding placards and raising slogans, accusing the Congress govt of failing farmers. They called for an immediate improvement in the supply of urea, saying the shortage caused significant difficulties for farmers. BRS members also submitted an adjournment motion seeking a debate on the issue.Responding to the protest, legislative affairs minister Sridhar Babu criticised the BRS, suggesting that the party appeared uninterested in the question hour. He said any issues should be raised and discussed in the assembly through proper channels instead of wasting time on protests. When BRS MLAs sought to raise a point of order on the issue, speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar rejected the request, telling Harish Rao that there was no provision to raise a point of order during the question hour. Despite this, the opposition members continued raising slogans, leading to chaos in the assembly.
