Tirupati: The judicial probe into the Jan 8 stampede in Tirupati, in which six pilgrims lost their lives and over 50 were injured, started on Saturday.
Govt recently appointed retired high court judge, Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy, to head the judicial commission. The scope of the enquiry commission will be to probe into the circumstances leading to the stampede at Padmavathi park in Tirupati.
The comission will also enquire if proper arrangements were made for the distribution of tokens and whether there were any shortcomings in the arrangements and if so, identify the persons responsible for the shortcomings. It will also suggest measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future.
