Planning To Buy A Compact Car? 6 Maruti Models Coming In

Maruti Suzuki has a product offensive strategy (Vision 3.0) for the Indian market. The Indo-Japanese automaker aims to increase its exports from India threefold in the next eight years, and expand its product portfolio from 17 to 28 models by the end of the decade. The upcoming range is likely to feature nearly six different powertrains including petrol, electric, hybrids, CNG, flex-fuel and ethanol-powered vehicles. If you are planning purchase a compact car, Maruti Suzuki has at least six new models in the pipeline arriving by 2026-27. Maruti Fronx Hybrid

The Maruti Fronx is one of the volume-generating products for the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. This compact crossover is ready to receive its first mid-life update this year. Interestingly, it will be the brand’s first model to feature Maruti Suzuki’s new strong hybrid powertrain. The 2025 Maruti Fronx will come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine paired to a strong hybrid system. It is estimate to deliver a fuel efficiency of over 30-35kmpl. The existing 1.2L K-Series petrol engine will continue to be on offer. This compact car could also be equipped with the ADAS suite.

New-Gen Maruti Baleno

The new-generation Maruti Baleno is expected to arrive in 2026 with the strong hybrid powertrain. Codenamed YTA, the hatchback’s all-new model will use the 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine. Similar to the updated Fronx, the all-new Baleno hybrid will be high on mileage. The company aims to achieve an annual production of nearly 60,000 units for the hatchback. Comprehensive changes are expected to be made inside and out.

Maruti Compact Electric MPV (YMC)

The upcoming Maruti compact MPV will be based on the e-Heartect born-EV architecture, which also underpins the soon-to-be-launched e Vitara. This platform has been co-developed with Toyota, and spawn multiple body styles. It will be the first electric MPV from the Indo-Japanese automaker that’s reported to hit roads before 2026 festive season (nearly around September). Details of the model are not available at this point of time. However, it is expected to share several components with the eVX including the powertrains.

Maruti Compact MPV (YDB)

The Indo-Japanese automaker will introduce a compact MPV based on the Suzuki Spacia, which is sold in the Japanese market. It will be compact people mover, challenging the Renault Triber and Nissan’s version of the Triber. The model is expected to debut in 2026. While the Japan-spec Spacia has sliding doors, the India-spec version is likely to give it a miss to reduce the production cost. It could be a Nexa exclusive product.

Maruti Micro SUV (Y43)

Maruti Suzuki is ready to challenge dominance of the Tata Punch wit a new product (codenamed Y43), which is expected to arrive during 2026 Diwali season. In the company’s product lineup, this new compact car will sit below the Brezza and target the budget-conscious SUV buyers.

Maruti EWX (K-Ev)

Next in the list a small electric hatchback, codenamed K-EV. It will be based on the eWX concept, which was first unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show. The new Maruti eWX hatchback will be built on a low-cost EV platform, and is expected to arrive in 2027. To achieve aggressive pricing, the carmaker might heavily localise the K-EV platform including the cells and batteries.
