AP Elections: Record-Breaking 85% Polling Expected!

Election fever is sweeping across Andhra Pradesh! Everyone’s curious about the outcomes: Who will clinch victory in AP? What’s the extent of Lokesh’s lead in Mangalagiri? And how’s Pawan faring in Pithapuram?

The buzz is palpable as Election Day looms, with answers to these questions soon to be sealed in the EVMs.

People from all corners of the country are returning to their hometowns to cast their votes, causing a frenzy in transportation with jam-packed buses and trains.

The last election, in 2019, saw a turnout of 79.84%, but this time, with the surge in voters, the Election Commission anticipates a higher turnout of around 83-85%.

Such a high voting percentage usually means anger against the ruling government. People are expected to come out in huge numbers to pull down the current government.

Preparations for the massive electoral exercise are in full swing. The Election Commission has meticulously arranged for polling across 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly constituencies on the 13th of this month, with a staggering 4.14 crore eligible voters.

Demographically, there are 2,03,39,851 male and 2,10,58,615 female voters, along with 3,421 third gender voters and 68,185 service voters. To ensure smooth voting, 46,389 polling centers have been established, equipped with essentials like water and medical aid. Special provisions are made for the elderly and disabled.

Security measures are robust, with 1.14 lakh personnel deployed for safety alongside 10,000 sector officers. Additionally, 8,961 micro observers and 46,165 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will monitor proceedings closely to avert any untoward incidents.

Notably, 12,459 sensitive polling stations have been identified, and 100% webcasting is planned in select constituencies like Macharla, Anantapur, East & West Godavari, and others, ensuring transparency. A hefty total of 454 candidates are vying for Lok Sabha seats, while 2,387 are contesting for the Assembly.

In the midst of it all, YS Jagan’s candidacy in Pulivendula stands out for his high number of criminal cases, while Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, competing for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat, holds the distinction of being the wealthiest candidate.
