The Indian Super League (ISL) announced the schedule for its new season on Thursday (September 7). This has deepened doubts about players in the Indian squad for the Asian Games starting later this month, getting exemption from clubs. The dates of the Asian Games in Hangzhou and the ISL are clashing.
The football competition in the Asian Games will start from September 19 till October 7. At the same time, the 2024-25 season of ISL will start with the match between Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC on 21 September in Kochi. League organizer FSDL announced the schedule for the first phase of the ISL till December 12.
This will be the tenth season of ISL in which a total of 12 teams will participate. India’s 22-member squad for the Asian Games includes players from 10 ISL clubs and it has been learned that some of these clubs are not ready to let go of their players.
