NFL week 11 results: Philadelphia Eagles come from behind to beat Kansas City Chiefs

Hurts registered a season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in 2022 with 18

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts led a second-half comeback as his side beat the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17 in a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl.

Hurts ran in for two touchdowns to secure the hard-fought win after the Eagles had trailed 17-7 at half-time.

The victory takes the Eagles to 9-1, the best record in the NFL so far this season.

“That was a complete team win, a complete team effort. We found a way,” said Hurts.

“It was two teams going at it in a hostile environment and we showed up when it mattered the most,” added Hurts, who finished with 150 passing yards.

It was only the ninth regular-season rematch of the previous season’s Super Bowl.

At Super Bowl 57 it was Kansas City who had to overturn a 10-point deficit in a classic match to win a second title in four years.

While that match was a high-scoring one, finishing 38-35, Monday’s at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium was dominated by defence as Hurts was sacked five times.

However, he produced the decisive scores in the second half, rushing from 10 yards to close the Chiefs’ lead to three points before completing the comeback when he was pushed over from one yard.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes almost snatched the win on their final possession but receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a pass on the Eagles’ goalline.

“We didn’t play well offensively,” Hurts said. “Our defence definitely had us strong in that game. They did a great job.

“We’re winning games but we’re yet to play our best ball. There’s a lot to be encouraged by. But we’re far from the finished product.”

The Chiefs are now 7-3 but remain in control of the AFC West division, while the Eagles have a two-game lead on the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.
