In the month of November 2023, the Indian automotive market witnessed the retail of nearly 3.34 lakh passenger vehicles, marking a 4 percent increase compared to the sales figures recorded in November 2022. However, this represents a significant decrease of 14.3 percent when compared to the sales in October 2023.

Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, experienced a year-on-year growth of 1.3 percentdespite a 1 percent decline in the company’s market share. In contrast, Hyundai Motor India achieved a year-on-year growth of 3 percent, accompanied by a month-on-month sales decline of 10 percent. Notably, the sales gap between Hyundai and Tata Motors narrowed down by a mere 3.5 units.

Leading the charts for India’s top-selling cars in November 2023 were Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR hatchback, Dzire compact sedan, and Swift hatchback, securing the first, second, and third positions, respectively. Adding intrigue to the rankings, Tata’s Nexon subcompact SUV and Punch micro SUV claimed the fourth and fifth spots with total sales of 14,916 units and 14,383 units, respectively. Both models exhibited impressive year-on-year growth, standing out as India’s top-selling SUVs with increases of 19 percent and 18 percent, respectively.

The Tata Nexon, having undergone a mid-life update two months prior, is currently priced between Rs 8.10 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Drawing design inspiration from the Curvv coupe SUV conceptthe subcompact SUV features a range of updates in its interior layout.

Tata Punch Test Drive

The top-end variant boasts exclusive features such as a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, a 360-degree camera, wireless charger, air purifier, ventilated front seats, voice-assisted sunroof, and more. The Tata Nexon subcompact SUV’s engine setup includes the same 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol, and 115bhp, 1.5L diesel engines.

Meanwhile, the Tata Punch is available in four trims, housing a single 86bhp, 1.2L petrol engine and offering two gearbox options. Presently, its prices range from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The top Creative trim stands out with features such as automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, a rear wiper and washer, rain-sensing wipers, automatic projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, among others.
