Mahindra & Mahindra is set for a robust presence in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, unveiling an ambitious plan featuring the launch of five all-electric SUVs slated to hit the market by October 2026. In a strategic move to bolster its EV endeavors, the homegrown automaker has committed a substantial investment of Rs 10,000 crore. The forthcoming year will witness the initiation of this electrifying journey with the introduction of the updated XUV400 EV in February, followed by the Mahindra XUV300 EV in June and the debut of the XUV.e8 in December 2024. Let’s delve into the key details of these upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs.

The revamped Mahindra XUV400 EV, set to make its appearance in February, is reported to feature minimal cosmetic changes alongside noteworthy upgrades. While retaining its existing powertrain setup, media reports suggest an emphasis on refining its aesthetic appeal. Following this, the new Mahindra XUV300 EV is scheduled to grace showrooms by June, positioning itself as a tough contender against Tata’s best-selling Nexon EV.

Priced approximately Rs 2 lakh lower than its larger counterpart, the electric subcompact SUV is projected to boast a powertrain configuration comprising a smaller 35kWh battery pack and an electric motor generating 150bhp and 310Nm. Anticipated to offer a range of around 370-375km on a full charge, the battery pack is expected to achieve an 80 percent charge in just 50 minutes through a 50kW DC fast charger.

Design-wise, the XUV300 EV is expected to draw inspiration from Mahindra’s upcoming BE SUVs, featuring a redesigned two-part grille, updated headlamps with new LED DRLs, a prominent central air intake, and a revised bumper. Its interior layout and features are likely to mirror those of its internal combustion engine-powered counterpart.

Mahindra XUV.e8

Looking towards the end of 2024, the Mahindra XUV.e8essentially an electric variant of the XUV700 SUV, is poised to make its debut. This will mark Mahindra’s first production-ready SUV based on the INGLO platform. Expectations for its design include a conventional closed grille with vertical slats, C-shaped LED headlamps resembling its concept, and a front bumper and fog lamp assembly akin to the XUV700.

Copper-colored accents on the front grille, fog lamps, wheel caps, and the rear section will evoke a resemblance to the XUV400 EV. The powertrain configuration is anticipated to feature a battery pack of around 60kWh or 80kWh, promising an impressive range of approximately 400km or 450km.
