Tata Motors had launched multiple new cars including the new Nexon, new Harrier & Safari in the country in 2023. The company is preparing to launch a wide range of new models will go on sale in our market in 2024. It is reported that the homegrown automaker will introduce 3 new SUVs including 2 mid-sized EVs and a sub-4 meter EV, and an updated Altroz hatchback.
Tata Punch EV
The homegrown automaker, Tata Motors has officially announced to introduce the electric version of the Punch micro SUV in the country in 2024. The Tata Punch EV is expected to make public debut on December 21, 2023, while launch could take place in the first quarter of next year. The micro SUV comes equipped with more features and unique design elements to differentiate itselft from the ICE version. It is likely to get LED headlamps, an electric sunroof and all-wheel disc brakes. The EV could also receive a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and a twin-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated logo. While the technical details are yet to be revealed, Tata could offer multiple battery options with the new Punch EV.
Tata Curvv EV & ICE
Tata Motors had showcased the Curvv SUV Coupe at the 2023 Auto Expo. The production version of the SUV Coupe is scheduled to arrive in mid-next year. The company will first launch the electric version of the SUV, which is expected to offer a range of about 400-500km on a single charge. It will also have a dual-motor set up to offer all-wheel drive configurations. The ICE version will receive a new 1.2-litre TGDi turbocharged mill that produces 125hp and 225Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
The Tata Curvv SUV Coupe will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the VW twins. In terms of styling, the SUV Coupe has a sloping roofline, a bold shoulder line, chunky wheel arches, think body cladding and others. The cabin will have a digital instrument console; a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a touch-based panel for climate control & a 360 degree surround view camera, and a panoramic sunroof. Tata is aiming to sell about 48,000 units of the Curvv SUV (12,000 units of EV & 36,000 units of ICE).
Tata Harrier EV
The homegrown UV maker, Tata Motors will launch the Harrier electric SUV in the country in 2024. It will be the first EV to be based on the Harrier’s OMEGA architecture, which has been heavily re-engineered for electric powertrain. This electric SUV is likely to get a 60kWh battery pack with two electric motors – one for the front axle and other for rear axle. Thanks to the dual-motor setup, the Tata Harrier EV will have an AWD setup. It is expected to have a range of about 400-500km on a single charge. The SUV will receive multiple design changes to differentiate itself from the Harrier facelift. The electric SUV will share interior and features from the recently introduced Harrier facelift, which includes ADAS tech, a 360 degree camera, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof.
Tata Altroz facelift
Tata Motors will launch the updated version of the Altroz hatchback in the country in 2024. The updated model will rival the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The hatchback will receive design changes inspired from the new Tata cars along with refreshed interior. It comes with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument console, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and six airbags. The company will also launch the Altroz Racer Edition, which will have an electric sunroof and a more powerful petrol engine.
The Altroz Racer Edition is likely to be offered with a 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine or a new 125bhp, 1.2L direct injection turbo petrol engine that also powers the Curvv SUV Coupe. The Altroz facelift is likely to continue with the existing 88bhp, 1.2L NA petrol & the 110bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.
