Planet Of Apes Trilogy On The Horizon?

A trilogy might begin soon as the director of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” teases that this film can be part of an upcoming trilogy.

Set in the post-Caesar era of the Apes franchise, the upcoming film, scheduled for May 2024, introduces Noa, a young chimpanzee portrayed by Owen Teague.

Teaming up with feral human Mae (Freya Allan), they undertake a perilous quest to thwart the tyrannical ape leader Proximus Caesar, marking a new chapter in the rebooted continuity.

Director Wes Ball and producer Joe Hartwick Jr. disclosed to Empire that “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” was conceived as the opening chapter of a new trilogy. While uncertain about directing future installments, Ball is in talks with the studio regarding the next story.

The previous trilogy concluded the “end of humanity,” and Ball envisions the new chapter as “very much about the beginning of something,” aiming to grow a narrative tree from the ashes of the preceding films.

Obviously, if this works out, Disney will have one more asset in the artillery as a trilogy that brings in the big bucks. But as of now, this will indeed take its fair share of time, needs space to build it from scratch, once again.
