Maruti Suzuki cars are often criticized for its poor crash test safety ratings, which is also evident from the poor quality of its entry-level cars. However, things changed with the Maruti Vitara Brezza that secured 4 star crash-test rating in Global NCAP. In order to change perception among buyers, MSIL has released a video that reveals their rigorous testing procedures before launching a product in our market. MSIL has shared internal crash test footage of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover.
The video reveals the testing process through which Maruti Suzuki vehicles undergone before hitting the roads. All MSIL cars go through series of both destructive and indestructible tests at its cutting-edge crash testing facility. The company has used specially calibrated dummies to simulate real-life impacts during crash test. These dummies help the homegrown automaker to make an accurate assessment of how the cars protect its occupants during crash.
The crash tests include front and side impact assessment based on the Indian regulations. MSIL is focusing on creating a secure room within the vehicle’s passenger compartment and to create a crumple zone to absorb impact.
The video reveals that the each Maruti Suzuki car undergoes more than 50 comprehensive crash tests before hitting the roads. The tests help in evaluating various elements including the deployment and efficacy of airbags, damage to seats and impact on interior body panels.
Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that its latest cars will go through Bharat NCAP crash tests. In fact, few cars have already been tested and results are expected to be released in the next few weeks. Announced on August 22, Bharat NCAP is a voluntary programme and the crash tests are applicable to the M1 category of vehicles with a gross weight of less than or equal to 3,500kg. The M1 category has passenger vehicles that can accommodate up to 8 passengers & 1 driver.
