The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to commence in Bengaluru on February 23, featuring a match between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.

As per the schedule drawn by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the second match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. The final will be played on March 17, preceded by an Eliminatorgame on March 15. Both the games will be in Delhi.

As reported by this website earlier, the five-team, 22-game caravan model will be played at only two centers – Bengaluru and Delhi – with the former hosting as many as 11 games. The rest, needless to mention, will be played in Delhi.

The Bengaluru leg will run until March 4, and the WPL bandwagon will then move to the national capital where the competition will start the very next day. In the 24-day second season, there are no double headers, and all matches will start at 7:30 pm. However, on odd occasions a team will have to play back to back games on consecutive days.

The WPL was originally planned to be in home and away model, like the Indian Premier League (IPL) but the BCCI has been facing logistical challenges to execute the plan. The first season was totally played in Mumbai.

Like the Begaluru leg, the Delhi leg also will start with a game between the last year’s finalists – Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals – and all the games in the Capital will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
