Watch: Jasprit Bumrah’s toe-crushing yorker to dismiss Ollie Pope | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Having scented blood with the key scalp of Joe Root in the previous over, India pace spearhead jasprit bumrah bowled a toe-crushing yorker to dismiss England’s Ollie Pope in the second session of the second day of the second Test at visakhapatnam on Saturday.
Bumrah first set up Root brilliantly with deliveries that swung away and then bowled a much straighter ball adding to the confusion of Root, who just hung his bat in the corridor of uncertainty.
Root poked at the ball expecting it to come but the ball angled away taking the edge and flew straight to Shubman Gill at first slip.
Bumrah greeted the next man in Jonny Bairstow with a 140.6 clicks yorker angling onto the boots. Bairstow was late in bringing his bat down and the ball deflected off his boots to deep backward square leg. The Indians thought about taking the review but decided against it and the replays showed that the ball was missing leg-stump.
In his next over, Bumrah did what he was trying to do and that too against the batsman who was well-set batting on 23 – Ollie Pope – who had won the first Test for England with a magnificent 196.
Bumrah didn’t even go wide of the crease, but out of his hands came out a beaming inswinging yorker at more than 140 clicks, aimed at the boots of Pope, who before this delivery, was hardly disturbed by anything.
In an effort to save his boots, Pope almost fell on the ground, tried to bring his bat down, but by then the ball had crashed into the middle and leg stumps that went flying away, much to the delight of Bumrah, his teammates and the Vizag crowd.
BCCI shared a video of the breathtaking delivery on X:
