Hyundai sales were boosted by the Creta facelift while its Verna sedan has seen 3474% YoY growth in Feb 2024
Hyundai, a leading automobile manufacturer, has showcased a robust sales performance for the month of February 2024 in the Indian market, with notable increases across various models. Overall, Hyundai’s total sales for February 2024 reached 50,201 units, marking a 6.88% increase compared to the same period last year. This performance underscores Hyundai’s resilience and adaptability in navigating market dynamics and meeting evolving consumer demands.
Hyundai Creta Highest Monthly Sales in February 2024
Hyundai Creta amplified sales for the brand by registering sales of 15,276 units in Feb 2024. This was a growth of 47 percent YoY and 16 percent MoM. There had been 10,421 units and 13,212 units sold in February 2023 and January 2024 respectively. The Creta was the only model in the company portfolio to surpass sales above the 10,000 unit mark and it was the 3rd best-selling SUV in India.
This was the highest ever monthly sales recorded by Creta ever since it marked its entry in India. It was also last month that the Creta achieved a milestone of 1 million units since its launch in 2015 thus relating to 1 Creta sold every 5 minutes. Earlier this week, Hyundai launched the new Creta N Line which will help boost sales further for brand Creta.
Lower sales were seen for the Hyundai Venue at 8,933 units last month, down 11 percent from 9,997 units sold in Feb 2023 while MoM sales also dipped by 24 percent from 11,831 units sold in January 2024. Hyundai Venue gets a new Executive Turbo variant earlier this month slotted below S (O) and priced at Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The relatively recently introduced Hyundai Exter sales in the past month stood at 7,582 units, down 8 percent MoM from 8,229 units sold in January 2024. Hyundai i20 with 5,131 unit sales and Xcent/Aura of which the company sold 5,053 units last month, have both posted YoY and MoM decline in sales. Hyundai Grand i10 sales also dipped YoY and MoM to 4,947 units.
Hyundai Verna Sales up 3474% In February 2024
Even as sedan sales are not doing as well as its hatchback and SUV counterparts, the Verna sedan has seen outstanding YoY demand by 3474 percent to 1,680 units in February 2024. This was against just 47 units sold in February 2023. Its MoM sales however dipped by 23 percent from 2,172 units sold in January 2024.
Double digit YoY and MoM decline in sales was reported for both Hyundai Alcazar (1,290 units) and Tucson (157 units). The company’s two electric models, Kona (86 units) and Ioniq 5 (66 units) have seen sales decline by 16 percent and 31 percent respectively on a MoM basis.
With a diverse product portfolio catering to various segments and continued innovation in electrification, Hyundai remains well-positioned to sustain its growth trajectory and strengthen its foothold in the competitive Indian automotive market.
