Nissan Motor India has announced a voluntary recall for units of its popular Magnite subcompact SUV due to faulty door handle sensors. The recall exercise affects XE and XL variants, which were manufactured between November 2020 and December 2023. Nissan is reaching out to customers proactively to replace the faulty door handle sensors in the affected models. The replacement of the defective parts will be done at Nissan service centers at free of cost. Currently, the Nissan Mangite model lineup is available within the price range of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 11.27 lakh (all ex-showroom).

The subcompact SUV from Nissan entered our market in late 2020, giving a new lease of life to the brand in the Indian market. Initially, the subcompact SUV was introduced with two petrol engines – 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated and 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol, and two gearbox options – 5-speed manual (standard) and CVT (reserved for turbo-petrol variants). Almost a year later, the Nissan Magnite receive an AMT transmission across all trim levels. Earlier this year, the subcompact SUV achieved 1 lakh sales milestone in India.

Now, the Japanese automaker is ready to give a mid-life update to the Magnite in coming months. While details of the new 2024 Nissan Mangite are still under the wraps, it’s likely to receive minimal changes inside and out. Rumour has it that the updated version could get a single-pane electric sunroof and ventilated front seats, which are missing in the pre-facelift model. However, these features, if offered, could be exclusively available on the top-end trims.

The new Magnite might also get six airbags as standard safety fitment. At present, it comes with the dual front airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and traction control. Engine setup is most likely to be carried forward from the current model. However, the motors could be retuned for improved performance.
