April is ideally a lucrative season for Tollywood in case the right lineup of films hits the big screens. But this April has been rather lackluster for Tollywood with no major box office winners. Whatever limited number of releases there were didn’t match the expectations.
The most notable release of April is Family Star and the film couldn’t generate revenues on an expected note. It is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Manjummel Boys had decent returns at its capacity but the numbers weren’t huge. But for a dubbed film, its run was decent. Geethanjali Malli Vachindi was a wipeout with negligible numbers.
All in all, April has been a bummer for Tollywood with the dry slump continuing again. This has been one of the most forgettable months in recent times.
In May, we have a flurry of releases like Gangs Of Godavari, Ashish Reddy-Vaishnavi’s Love Me, and Anand Deverakonda’s Gam Gam Ganesha. It has to be seen if any of them can hit it out of the park.
