New-Gen Mahindra Bolero Launch Timeline & Key Changes

Mahindra Bolero has been one of the top-selling SUVs from the indigenous automaker since its launch in 2000. The SUV, currently in its third generation introduced in the second half of 2011, is now ready for the next generational change. However, the all-new Bolero will take two to three years to hit the roads. The model will receive comprehensive upgrades, with major changes to its underpinning. The new Mahindra Bolero will be designed on the next-generation architecture called U171. Read: Mahindra XUV 3XO – Finding The Most Value For Money Variant

The carmaker will use this new architecture for over six of its future SUVs and pickup trucks. Reports suggest that Mahindra’s upcoming product lineup might include at least three SUVs based on the new U171 platform, helping the brand achieve nearly 1.5 lakh units in annual sales. With its forthcoming U171-based pickup range, Mahindra will be able to achieve competitive pricing while controlling manufacturing costs. This is expected to double the sales. However, the first model based on the all-new U171 architecture is likely to arrive in 2026 or 2027.

Interestingly, the new Mahindra Bolero will be offered with multiple seating arrangements, including 5 and 7-seats. The SUV’s 5-seater version will measure nearly 4 meters in length and could replace the existing Bolero and Bolero Neo. The 7-seater Bolero might have a forward-facing third-row seat, similar to the one seen in the Scorpio N. The model lineup will also include an extra-long XL variant to challenge the Force Citiline 9-seater MUV.

Additionally, the all-new Bolero will come with multiple wheelbase and powertrain options. The current-generation Bolero is available with a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 76bhp, priced from Rs 9.90 lakh to Rs 10.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the new underpinning, significantly improved styling, and interior, the new Mahindra Bolero is likely to be priced slightly higher than the existing one.
