NEW DELHI: Elena Rybakinathe world number four from Kazakhstan, secured a comfortable 6-4 6-3 win against Ukraine’s Elena Svitolina in their fourth-round match at the French Open on Monday, advancing to her second quarter-final at the tournament.
The match began with both players struggling to hold serve, but Rybakina quickly found her rhythm and dominated the first set.
Svitolina, ranked 19th, appeared to be battling fatigue from the outset of the second set, and her lack of accuracy throughout the match left her unable to challenge the former Wimbledon champion effectively.
Despite having reached the quarter-finals at the French Open four times previously, including this year, the Odessa-born Svitolina was outplayed by her opponent.
Rybakina, who last made it to the quarter-finals in 2021, will now face Italy’s Jasmine Paolinithe world number 15, in her next match.
