New Kia Sonet GTX, Seltos GTX Variants Launched

The Kia Sonet, a subcompact SUV from the South Korean automaker, has received a new GTX trim priced at Rs 13.71 lakh (ex-showroom). The new trim sits right between the HTX+ and GTX+ trims. In terms of features, the new Kia Sonet GTX trim offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an air purifier, a powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, auto headlamps, LED fog lamps, and six airbags.

The new Kia Sonet GTX trim is offered in seven color schemes – Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, and Aurora Black Pearl. Besides introducing a new trim, Kia India has offered the Sonet X-Line in a new Aurora Black Pearl paint scheme. Earlier, it was available only in the Matte Graphite shade.

When it comes to powertrain options, the Kia Sonet GTX can be had with either a 1.0L turbo petrol engine and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox or a 1.5L diesel engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Read – Upcoming Kia UVs and EVs in India

Kia’s top-selling Seltos SUV lineup also receives a new GTX variant along with a new Aurora Black Pearl color offered only on the X-Line trim. It’s important to note that the new Kia Sonet GTX trim is available only with automatic gearboxes. Similar to the new Sonet GTX, the Seltos GTX comes with 1.5L turbo petrol DCT and 1.5L diesel automatic engine-gearbox combinations. The mid-size SUV’s new GTX variant offers features such as dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, ADAS tech, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

In June 2024, Kia India managed to sell 9,816 units of the updated Sonet, making it the top sales contributor of the month. The carmaker revealed that around 43 percent of Kia cars sold in Q1 2024 were Sonet, followed by Seltos (32 percent) and Carens (25 percent). Last month, the South Korean automaker registered sales of 21,300 units against 19,300 units in the corresponding month last year, accounting for a YoY sales growth of 9.8 percent.
