For a car that is only 5 months old, this was heartbreaking for me!
BHPian CEF_Beasts recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
It was a fine Thursday morning, I had to run a quick errand, when I was done with the errand and was getting into the car, my driver called me out to come and check the scratches on the driver door, which were definitely scratches where someone had deliberately keyed the car.
Was finally able to capture the true Green Flakes in the paint, when I was called by my driver to check the scratches on the driver door.
For a car that is only 5 months old, this was heartbreaking for me!
Just above the Driver door handle someone had keyed the car.
Quickly decided to take it to the friendly neighbourhood detailing centre to get it fixed. Wurth Car Powai where I had taken my BMW around a year back is now a 3M Car Care Studio.
At the 3M Car Care Studio.
Went in for the 3M Gloss Boost package to get the scratches removed. This being our first true darkish shade car, the scratches really pop unlike in lighter colours like white, silver or even beige, something I’m just not used to.
The car was prepped first, wiped with IPC, sanded down properly with a Compound, washed, polished and the last step being Ceramic Gloss Boost in 3M’s parlance being used on the car.
Sanding and Compounding in progress.
The 3M Orbital Compounding Solution/Cream used.
In for its Wash.
A little Catto turned Car-Enthusiast, looking on as the process was being done .
In the Detailing Bay for the Polishing.
The 3M Machine Polish used on the Car.
Polishing in progress.
Tire Polish was applied on all Four Tires and on the matte black claddings across the car.
The 3M Ceramic Boost Spray used.
The Final Outcome
Overall I was very satisfied with the work done by the team at 3M Car Care Studio Powai ! Have learnt a few more things in the process; these Dark colours are a pain in the rear to maintain taking absolutely no time to show swirl marks, Toyota’s Paint Quality is not the best and this caused a decent hole in the pocket (₹14k to be precise) within 5 months of ownership.

Another random quirk that I realised the car has when seated in the backseat is that with the sunshade of the sunroof open, the person sitting on the either of the captain chairs, will have this view out . The sunroof should’ve extended outwards a bit more for the true experience.
But I truly wished it didn’t get a sunroof, since we are never going to open the glass anyways, the incident in Dehradun further cements this.
