Hyderabad: Shankarpally police are investigating the discovery of an unidentified body, with his head decapitated, found in a septic tank at a govt model school on Friday.
The gruesome discovery was made by students who were playing cricket and accidentally stumbled upon the scene.
“The decomposing body was found when children went to retrieve their cricket ball and noticed a strong, foul odour emanating from the area,” said district education officer (DEO) P Suseendra Rao.
The school, which shares its premises with the mandal MPDO office, has been temporarily closed while forensic teams conduct their investigation. “At this stage, we cannot confirm the identity of the deceased or the cause of death. We are awaiting the post-mortem report for further details, but we immediately cordoned off the area and initiated our investigation protocols,” said a police official.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about missing persons in the area to come forward. “We are reviewing missing persons reports from nearby localities and are working to establish the identity of the deceased,” the official added.
