The sand sculptures of Lord Balaji (Sri Venkateswara Swamy) of Tirumala and the Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj carved by Revelli Shankar from Telangana’s Karimnagar town won laurels at the 14th International Sand Art Festival, which concluded on Chandrabhaga Beach in Odisha‘s Konark on Thursday (December 5).
According to sources, Mr. Shankar along with another sand artist Vatupalli Gopichandu from Andhra Pradesh participated in the prestigious event, which saw the participation of sand artists from around the globe.
Both the sand artists have been selected for ‘Konark Sand Art Award’ under national category (other than Odisha) at the five-day event.
They had the opportunity to meet renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik during the event.
