Hyderabad: A drug peddler from Balapur, who was allegedly supplying synthetic drugs in Hyderabad, was arrested in a joint operation by Telangana Anti Narcotic Bureau (TGANB) and Nampally police. Police seized 320 grams of MDMA from the accused, Shaik Amer.
He was caught when he was in the process of delivering the drug to the clients, said police. Amer was regularly supplying drugs to 37 clients in different parts of Hyderabad.
Mohammed Salim Abdul Hamid Shaikh and Rayees Riyaz Shaikh from Mumbai, who were supplying drugs to Amer, are absconding, police said. He used to purchase MDMA at Rs 3,000 per gram from them and sell the drug in Hyderabad at Rs 8,000 per gram, police said.
According to police, Amer, 31, got addicted to drugs and began purchasing drugs from unidentifed sources. Later, he realised that there was a huge demand for MDMA. Taking advantage of this, he started procuring MDMA from different sources at low prices and selling them to clients in Hyderabad at high rates.
Around this time, he came in contact with Abdul Hamid, who was allegedly supplying drugs in Mumbai and its suburbs. Through him, Amer also came in contact with Rayees.
Police said Abdul Hamid and Rayees were procuring drugs from Nigerian nationals Jimmy and Jerry, both residing in Delhi, and supplying to Amer.
A week ago, Amer had travelled to Mumbai and purchased 320 grams from them by paying Rs 6 lakh and returned to Hyderabad on Thursday when he landed in police net, said a TGANB official.
