2024 was all about sequels that came out amidst huge expectations. Unfortunately, only a few of them were able to impress in terms of reviews and box office numbers.
While the first half of the year was not going so well for the film industry, Stree 2 was released in August. It accumulated around Rs. 50 crores on the first day and the numbers went on expanding over the next few weeks.

On the flip side, BB3 was still criticized by a section of the public for different reasons, specifically targeting Kartik Aaryan’s performance and the climax. However, the Diwali release contributed to making it a hit.
Furthermore, Pushpa 2: The Rule has created history with numbers surpassing the mark of Rs. 1,000 crores. It is undoubtedly one of the biggest blockbusters of this year.

A few sequels failed to deliver the desired results. One of them was Singham Again, which had a huge star cast. However, the main film fell short of the entertaining elements that were present in the first two films.
Other sequels like Kaagaz 2 and Love Sex Aur Dhoka 2 also failed to make an impact.
Multiple sequels are being planned for the upcoming few years. But they have raised the question of whether Bollywood is falling short of good writers.
Audiences are willing to watch something unique and it is the best time for filmmakers to understand if they want Bollywood to survive.
