Ahead of Sankranti festival, as many as 29 persons, including a former MLA, were arrested by the city police for allegedly being involved in rooster fights at Ramavaram village under Anandapuram police station limits in Visakhapatnam city on Friday. Assistant Commissioner of Police, North subdivision, S. Appalaraju, said that based on credible information, City Task Force (CTF) and Anandapuram police teams conducted raids near a layout at Ramavaram village, where they found 29 persons involved in rooster fights. The ACP said that eight roosters, ₹2.07 lakh cash and 20 knives were seized from them. Cases were booked.
