Ex-TDP sarpanch hacked to death by rivals in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool

TIRUPATI: TDP ex sarpanch Vakiti Srinivasulu (45) was hacked to death by his rivals at Hosuru village in Pattikonda mandal of Kurnool district in the early hours on Wednesday.
He was a close aide of Pattikonda TDP MLA KE Shyam Babu and played a key role in the TDP’s victory in the recently held assembly elections.
Local police led by DSP Srinivasa Reddy inspected the crime scene later on and told reporters that some unidentified miscreants attacked Vakiti Srinivasulu when he went out to attend nature’s call early this morning.
Miscreants threw chilli powder in his eyes and attacked him indiscriminately with rods and sickles, leading to Srinivasulu’s death on the spot.
Police said the victim sustained severe head injuries and some beer bottles were found about a kilometre away from the crime scene.
Pattikonda MLA interacted with the Srinivasulu’s family members and demanded the police to identify the perpetrators and arrest the accused involved in the murder at the earliest.
Minister Nara Lokesh condemned the manner in which the TDP ex Sarpanch was allegedly murdered by YSRCP activists. Responding to the incident on “X”, Lokesh said “Because Srinivasulu played a key role in TDP’s victory at Pattikonda, he was targeted and murdered by his rivals. Jagan and co haven’t mended their ways despite the electoral rout. The TDP led NDA alliance will crack the whip against those resorting to such unlawful acts. The TDP extends solidarity to the bereaved family”
Meanwhile, Kurnool SP Garikapati Bindu Madhav told reporters that special teams were formed to investigate the case and maintained that the case was being probed from various angles including political rivalry, extramarital affair etc.
