The South Korean automaker has showcased the Hyundai Ioniq 9 electric SUV at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Show alongside the Creta Electric SUV. As of now, the company has no plan to bring in the Ioniq 9 in India. It has been displayed as a halo model that sits at the top of the brand’s EV product lineup. This EV will initially be introduced in the South Korean and North American markets in the first half of this year, followed by launches in other countries.

  1. The Ioniq 9 shares its E-GMP platform with the Kia EV9.
  2. It comes in two seating layouts – 6 and 7-seats.
  3. There are two trims – Long Range (with RWD and AWD) and Performance (only with AWD).
  4. Hyundai has no plan to bring in the Ioniq 9 in India.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Range, Battery

The Ioniq 9 uses a 110.3kWh battery pack, promising a range of up to 620km (WLTP). The model lineup consists of two trims – Long Range and Performance – available with FWD and AWD setups. The Long Range RWD version comes with the rear axle mounted electric motor that’s good for 218bhp and 350Nm. It accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 9.4 seconds. The Long Range AWD variant has a front axle mounted motor pushing out power worth 95bhp and 255Nm of torque. It does 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. The Performance variant has the 218bhp electric motor on the front and rear axles. Features such as lateral wind stability control, dynamic torque vectoring and the Terrain Traction Control add more to its performance.

Globally, the Ioniq 9 electric SUV is offered with seating arrangements: 6 and 7-seats. While the first row seats have massaging function, the middle row seats can swivel and face the third row when the EV’s stationary. Being a flagship EV, it comes packed with several advanced features such as a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, roof mounted AC vents, ambient lighting, ADAS suites with multiple cameras and sensors, 10 airbags, multiple 100W USB-C ports in all row of seats, and many more goodies.

The Ioniq 9 underpins the E-GMP modular born electric platform that’s also used in the Kia EV9. Compared to the EV9, Hyundai’s flagship EV is 45mm longer measuring 5,060mm in length. Some of its design highlights include Hyundai’s Parametric pixel inserts in the headlamps and taillamps, alloy wheels ranging from 19-inch (standard) to 21-inch, an upright tailgate, and angular stance.
