An unidentified woman allegedly kidnapped a two-year-old boy, Sk. Basheer, from the Old Government General Hospital (GGH) on Thursday.

Shaik Fatima, hailing from Eluru, has four children. She came to the GGH for treatment of her fourth child, who was admitted to the hospital.

An unidentified woman befriended Ms. Fatima’s family members. She allegedly took away Basheer on the pretext of giving him biscuits.

“The woman escaped with the boy at around 6 p.m. Ms. Fatima lodged a complaint with the Governorpet police,” South Zone ACP U. Bangaru Raju told The Hindu.

Following the directions of Police Commissioner S. V. Rajashekar Babu, special teams have been formed to trace the boy, said Governorpet CI Naga Murali.

“We are scanning the CCTV footage collected from the GGH,” he said.
