Sky Force box office collection day 1: Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s film has opened at Rs 11.25 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk. This is Akshay’s best opening since the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in 2024, which also starred Tiger Shroff. BMCM, which crashed badly at the box office, opened at Rs 15.65 crore. Since then, Akshay has had two releases – Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein – and they earned Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 5.05 crore respectively on opening day. Khel Khel Mein had a huge ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk among others.

Sky Force opened to mixed reviews and witnessed an overall occupancy of 20.93 percent. In the Delhi-NCR region, the film had 1190 shows and witnessed 21 percent occupancy and in the mumbai region, the film had 852 shows  with an occupancy of 26.75 percent. The film is currently screening over 4000 shows in a day.

After the release of Sky Force, the shows of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency have dropped drastically and the film currently has only 700 shows. In a week’s time, the film has made a little over Rs 14 crore and on its eighth day in the theatres, it managed to make only Rs 35 lakh.

While Sky Force has received a better opening compared to a lot of Akshay Kumar films in the recent past, it remains to be seen if this film can manage to break the curse. Akshay hasn’t had a hit as a lead hero since 2021’s Sooryavanshi which released during the pandemic when many restrictions were placed on cinemas. Despite the restrictions, Sooryavanshi made over Rs 195 crore. His production OMG 2, where he played a supporting role, went on to do great business at the box office as it made over Rs 220 crore at the box office.

Festive offer

Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is based on real story. It centers around India’s retaliatory attack on the Sargodha airbase of Pakistan during the Indo–Pak war of 1965. The film also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan.
