Maruti Suzuki Fronx is set to receive a major update this year. Ahead of its official launch, the compact crossover’s updated version has been caught on camera without any camouflage. The model seen was painted in dual-tone black and red colour scheme and featured ‘Hybrid’ badge on the rear profile. The recent sighting adds fuel to reports suggesting that the 2025 Maruti Fronx strong hybrid version is in the development. The Indo-Japanese automaker is working on in-house strong hybrid technology for its mass-market vehicles, and the Fronx facelift will be the first model to feature it.
The 2025 Maruti Fronx strong hybrid version will come with the Swift’s 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. If reports are to be believed, the compact SUV’s hybrid version will deliver a mileage of over 35kmpl. The Fronx’s 1.2L K-Series petrol engine, with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox, delivers a maximum power of 89.73PS and 113Nm of torque. This setup offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.79kmpl (MT) and 22.89kmpl (AMT).

Unlike Toyota’s Atkinson cycle powertrain, which has series-parallel setup, Maruti Suzuki’s new strong hybrid powertrain will be a series hybrid tech. It’s said to be significantly economical than Toyota’s strong hybrid system. The Indo-Japanese automaker is planning to introduce its new hybrid technology to its mass-market vehicles including the new-generation Baleno hatchback, new-gen Brezza subcompact SUV and some upcoming all-new products.
Coming back to the 2025 Maruti Fronx facelift, the compact crossover might also be equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) technology. Minor design changes are expected including slightly revised grille and bumpers, new alloys, etc. Similarly, the interior of the new Maruti Fronx is likely to come with some additional features.
At present, the Fronx lineup comes in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+ and Alpha. The compact crossover’s top trim is already packed with features such as a 360 degree camera, HUD (head-up display), cruise control, leather wrapped steering wheel, Suzuki connected car features, rear AC vents, fast USB charging points, wireless charger and many more goodies.
