Visakhapatnam: IT minister Nara Lokesh on Monday said Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will commence its operations in Vizag in the next three months. Another big IT services company, Cognizant, will also set up an office in Vizag soon, he added.
A permanent campus of TCS will come up in the next two years, Lokesh said.
“Wipro and other IT giants are also looking at Andhra Pradesh to expand their operations. Infosys is also looking at setting up a campus. We are working to set up a global capability centre (GCC) in the state. NDA govt in the state is giving confidence to industries to return and invest in AP,” he said.
Lokesh, who is TDP’s national general secretary, said no one should be in a party post for more than three terms. He said it is his personal opinion, and he will step down from his post to accommodate others as he has completed three terms. He reiterated that it’s purely his personal opinion and not the party’s opinion.
He said the NDA govt has got 6.33 lakh crore investments to the state and provided 4.1 lakh jobs in the last seven months. “We are ready to provide lands at a cheaper price to the first 500 companies that come to AP. I announced it in Davos. We are committed to the development of the state,” he added.
He said his MBA at Stanford University taught him business, but his Yuvagalam padayatra connected him with people. “I will fulfil all promises made during the padayatra. I am what I am because of the love and affection of people and I will continue to be with them, always,” he said.
Lokesh also made it clear that Vizag Steel Plant will not be privatised. “The NDA govt will put the VSP on the track of profitability. I built my house with Visakha steel in Hyderabad, and I am going to construct a house in Amaravati with Visakha steel,” he asserted, adding that Arcelor Mittal group will invest 1.35 lakh crore in the new steel plant coming up at Rajayyapeta. “Works will start in the next six-seven months. Production will start in the next four years,” he said.
