Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has filled a record 1,680 potholes in the city, identified as part of the mission pothole-free AP, at a cost of about 2 crore. The civic body began the works to fill all major potholes last Dec and completed the works in just two months.
VMC chief engineer R Srinadh Reddytold TOI, “The engineering wing of the municipal corporation identified a total of 1,680 potholes across arterial, sub-arterial roads and roads in residential colony across 64 wards and filled them all, thus achieving a 100% completion of the works.”
He said that civic body was able to fill all major potholes and had completed works within two months.However, works on the newer and minor potholes, that were to be completed by Feb, were halted due to the election code.
