Update on my Ford Figo TDCi after nearly 4 years since engine overhaul

The car has completed more than 46,000 km since the engine overhaul.

Hello everyone,

Long overdue update about the Figo TDCi post engine overhaul in March 2021. Odo was at 1.26 lakh KM back then. Current Odo – 1.72 lakh KM

It has been more than three years since the engine overhaul. Post the overhaul, the car has been driving as if it has covered about 20-30K KMs only and not over a lakh KMs. Nice! Engine oil consumption has gone back to normal. The car is responding well to throttle inputs. It has completed more than 46K KMs since the overhaul so far.

Minor hiccup

Last year when I was on a trip to Vizag from Vijayawada, the transmission control fault error symbol (wrench) popped up out of the blue (while undertaking a spirited overtaking manoeuvre on the highway). The car went into limp mode. I turned the car off, waited a while and restarted and the error went away. Thereafter, I finished the trip driving sedately. I took the car to the service center after returning.

They found that the intercooler intake pipe had a crack underneath (out of sight from up above). It was promptly replaced and the car started driving normally with proper throttle response. Apart from this minor part failure, things have been quite satisfactory so far.

The car has completed 9 years on October 31. It is showing its age in some areas like the synthetic rubber portion of the gear knob peeling away, rubber seal / bead at the bottom of the windshield peeling away etc. I am planning to give the car a refresh by treating it to thorough detailing, getting ORVMs and rear spoiler painted black, damping the doors etc.

The only thing of concern has been the availability of continued service center support going forward. The service center guys are reassuring that they have service arrangements till at least 2026. I hope it stays that way.

Guys, any ideas on how to repair the peeled-off rubber beading at the bottom of the windshield shown in the pics below?
