Launched in September 2024, the MG Windsor EV has been growing stronger with each passing month. This compact electric MPV has achieved 15,000 production milestone since its arrival. The carmaker says that it has been receiving nearly 200 bookings per day for the EV. Nearly 14,000 units of the Windsor EV have been sold so far including 502 units in September 2024, 3,116 units in October 2024, 3,144 units in November 2024, 3,785 units in December 2024 and 3,450 units in January 2025. In fact, it managed to surpass the combined sales of the Tata Nexon EV and Tata Punch EV within these three-four months.
The MG Windsor EV comes in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence – priced at Rs 14 lakh, Rs 15 lakh and Rs 16 lakh, respectively. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. The carmaker has adopted the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) scheme to attract buyers. Under this program, buyers need to pay a nominal charge of Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven, reducing the initial cost of ownership and the pre-kilometre expense.
The powertrain system of the MG Windsor EV consists of a 38kWh LFP battery with a front axle-mounted electric motor, delivering a maximum power of 136bhp and 200Nm of torque. MG claims that its compact electric MPV offers a range of 331km on a single charge. It offers four driving modes – Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport. The Windsor EV can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes by using a 45kW fast charger. It also comes with the 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC charger options, which juice up its battery from 0 to 100 percent in 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.
The carmaker is providing a lifetime warranty on its battery with unlimited kilometres for the first buyers of the EV. Additionally, there is a free public charging facility for the first year. The Windsor EV comes in four colour options, namely, Turquoise Green, Pearl White, Starburst Black and Pearl White.
