The insurance and PUC was done in advance. You are given a 1-hour slot wherein you have to get your vehicle to the Regional Transport Office for inspection.

BHPian v12 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Finally, the Hero Honda Street managed to pass the fitness test today. Had an appointment at the RTO today for inspection.

Initially, I tried to get the whole process done online by myself. Unfortunately, it was not allowing me to pay the fitness fee online due to an error saying “The current or selected RTO does not permit fitness online. Please visit the RTO”. So I had to get hold of an agent to do all the paperwork.

The insurance and PUC was done in advance and all the paperwork was handed to the agent. The inspection appointment was fixed for today. The process was very simple. You are given a 1-hour slot wherein you have to get your vehicle to the RTO.

One of the RTO guys will take a stencil mark of your chassis number to affix to your documentation.

Then the inspector will inspect your vehicle. Make sure your vehicle is in good running condition.

All the vehicles were checked for the following (very strictly):

  • Engine and Chassis number verification
  • Number Plates
  • Color (as per RC book)
  • Start the vehicle and switch on the headlight, horn, all 4 indicators and brake light

Once done, your papers are handed back to you (which needs to be handed over to the agent. I think within 10 days you should receive your RC book at your residence.

Here is a breakup of the cost involved:

  • RTO Cost – Rs 6158
  • Agent Cost : 2203
  • Total : 8361

Breakup of the RTO Cost attached below.

Frankly speaking, I could have avoided the 4500 Rs penalty, had I done the fitness on time (November 2023). So I estimate a penalty of 281 Rs per month for 16 months.
