Buyers today are spoiled with multiple choices across different price segments, ranging from compact SUVs to full-sized premium offerings. In February 2025, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx emerged as India’s top-selling SUV with total sales of 21,461 units against 14,168 units during the same month last year. This compact crossover recorded a YoY sales growth of 51 percent. Attributes such as SUV-ish styling, value proposition, efficient engines and of-course the affordable pricing are working in its favour. The base variant of the Maruti Fronx is available at Rs 7.52 lakh, while the top-end trim costs Rs 13.03 lakh.
Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta slipped to the second spot, with sales of 16,317 units as opposed to 15,276 units in February 2025, marking a 7 percent YoY growth. Currently, its prices fall within the range of Rs 11.11 lakh – Rs 20.50 lakh. The SUV’s ICE version comes with three engine options 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol, 115bhp, 1.5L petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel. The Hyundai Creta Electric also contributed a decent sales to overall sales, and is available within the price range of Rs 17.99 lakh – Rs 23.50 lakh.
Maruti breeze

The Maruti Brezza is the third top-selling SUV in the country. Last month, the carmaker managed to sell 15,392 units of the subcompact SUV against 17,517 units in the same month previous year, posting a marginal YoY sales decline of 2 percent. Prices of the Brezza start from Rs 8.69 lakh and go up to Rs 14.14 lakh. This compact SUV is solely available with a 1.5L, K15C petrol engine, pushing out power worth 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are on offer.

Tata Motors’ Nexon secured the fourth position in the list of India’s best-selling SUVs. Interestingly, the sales difference between the Brezza and Nexon is marginal. The indigenous automaker retailed a total of 15,349 units of the Nexon compared to 15,765 units in February 2024, reflecting a 2 percent YoY sales declined. This compact SUV is being offered with the 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol, 115bhp, 1.5L diesel engine options. Prices for the entry-level variant begin at Rs 8 lakh and go up to Rs 15.60 lakh for the fully-loaded top variant.
Tata Punch

The Tata Punch is India’s fifth best-selling SUV available within the price range of Rs 6.20 lakh – Rs 10.32 lakh. In February 2025, the home-grown automaker sells 14,559 units against 18,438 units in the corresponding month last year, registering a significant YoY sales decline of 21 percent. Powering the Punch is an 86bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine, with manual and AMT gearbox options.
