Telangana BJP president and Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy dismissed the Chennai Conclave on delimitation, hosted by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, as a “political conspiracy” by Opposition parties to stall the party’s growth in southern states.
Speaking at a press conference at the BJP’s State office on Sunday (March 23, 2025), he accused “scam-tainted, corrupt, and family-run parties” of misleading the public through the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting. He also took aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging him to focus on fulfilling promised guarantees instead of criticising the Centre. “If he thinks public discontent over his government’s failures will vanish through constant criticism of the Centre, he is mistaken,” he said.

The BJP leader accused Opposition party leaders and Chief Ministers of attending the JAC meeting for “selfish political motives” and using it as a platform for “mudslinging” against the Centre and the BJP. He claimed that the same tactic was used during the general elections when false propaganda was spread about the Constitution being in danger. “The Chennai meeting has only exposed old political friendships, like Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao sharing the same platform,” he remarked.
Mr. Kishan Reddy asserted that “there has been no discussion in the Union Cabinet or the party about the delimitation of parliament constituencies even for a single day”. The census exercise has not yet begun but the Opposition parties are spreading canards about an issue which has no relevance at present, he maintained
The Union Minister emphasised that any future delimitation would be carried out in consultation with the States, under the same law introduced by the erstwhile Congress government. He assured that the commission overseeing the process would ensure fairness, stating that “not even a grain of rice worth of injustice will be done to any State.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are keen on gaining power in the southern States and are actively working towards that goal, ensuring that nothing is done to undermine them. In fact, Mr. Modi firmly believes that the growth and development of States are essential for overall progress of the country, added Mr.Kishan Reddy.
