New 2026 Audi A6 sedan revealed

The A6 has a drag coefficient of 0.23, the best value for a combustion-engine production model in Audi’s history.

Audi has unveiled the all-new 2026 A6 sedan. It will join the Avant station-wagon version that was unveiled in March earlier this year.

As with most Audi designs, the new A6 sedan has an understated and classy design. At the front, the car gets sleek-looking LED headlamps and a large hexagonal grille with the four Audi rings.. The front end does somewhat remind you of the e-tron GT. There is a prominent bonnet lip as well.  The side air intakes have been optimized to achieve better airflow. The front spoiler in the front bumper reduces front axle lift and, together with panels on the underbody, ensures controlled airflow under the car. The upward-sloping rear gives a notchback-style look. The LED tail lamps have crisp detailing, and there is a light strip that runs across the boot. The tailgate has a sharp curvature. There is also a large, wide diffuser that strikes the ideal balance between lift at the rear axle and drag, which enhances driving dynamics. The A6 has a drag coefficient of 0.23, the best value for a combustion-engine production model in Audi’s history. The A6 sedan has an overall length of 4,990 mm with a wheelbase of 2,927 mm.

Coming to the wheels, Audi offers options from 18 to 21 inches. The A6 comes in a choice of 11 exterior colours. A special ‘Madeira Brown’ shade is offered in the one-year limited production model called the ‘Edition One”.

On the interior, the new A6 sedan gets an 11.9-inch digital cockpit and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. A 10.9-inch front passenger display and a head-up display are available as options.  It has a Bang & Olufsen sound system with the option of 16 or 20 speakers putting out 685 or 810 watts respectively.

Other optional features include four-zone climate control and a door-closing assist function.  There is also a sunroof that can switch from translucent to clear with the press of a button. Audi claims that the sound insulation has been improved by up to 30% compared to the previous generation. The A6 has a boot space of 492 litres. The Avant has 503 litres.

The new A6 sedan will come with three engine options. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol TFSI and 2.0 four-cylinder turbo diesel both put out 201 BHP. While the petrol develops 340 Nm torque, the diesel puts out 400 Nm. Both engines feature a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The diesel is available as a front-wheel drive or with quattro all-wheel drive. Both engines get a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The third engine is a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine developing 362 BHP and 550 Nm of torque. The quattro all-wheel drive system is standard.

The new A6 gets adaptive air suspension as an option. Compared to the standard suspension, the car is 20 mm lower in normal mode. In dynamic mode, the ride height is lowered by another 10 mm. To reduce drag, the A6 sedan uses the low level even at high speeds in balanced and efficiency modes.

Also optional, is all-wheel steering. At low speeds, the all-wheel steering turns the rear wheels up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels, improving maneuverability in city traffic and tight bends. At medium and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, resulting in stable and even more precise handling.

The new A6 Sedan will be produced in Neckarsulm and sold worldwide. Orders for the car begin mid-April. Prices for the entry-level A6 with the 2.0 TFSI start at 55,500 euros (approx. 54 lakhs).
