21-Year-Old Hurt As Car Topples On PVNR Expressway

Hyderabad:A 21-year-old student sustained minor injuries after the car he was driving toppled on the PVNR Expressway.

The student was booked for rash and negligent driving after his car crashed into a guard-rail on the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway late Tuesday night, Gudimalkapur police said.

Sub-inspector I. Chandra Shekar confirmed the driver, Syed Asif of Barkatpura, was alone in the vehicle and was heading home when he lost control at high speed and slammed into the railing. Asif sustained minor bruises but fled the scene, leaving the mangled car behind.

Initial eyewitness accounts suggested a second occupant, but an inquiry — assisted by Asif’s uncle — established he was the sole occupant. Police have registered a case under IPC sections for rash and negligent driving as well as the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, citing damage to the expressway infrastructure.

Officers said Asif will be summoned for further questioning once he is medically evaluated.
