Samsung drops hint about XR headset launch by the end of this year

Samsung unveiled Project Moohan, its first XR headset, earlier this year. The company hasn’t provided any significant details about the device, but it did show the headset off on multiple occasions, including most recently at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona.

There has been confusion as to when Samsung is going to launch the headset, though there was some indication from the company that it could come in 2025, but many reports suggested a 2026 launch. Samsung may now have dropped a hint as to when it may launch the XR headset.

Samsung has an exciting slate of new products coming out this year

The earnings presentation that Samsung shared with investors following its Q1 2025 earnings earlier this week contains a hint about the potential launch of the XR headset. The presentation has details about the performance of its various divisions over the past quarter and what they will focus on for the rest of the year.

It’s mentioned in the section concerning the MX division “2H 2025” outlook that it will “explore new products such as XR.” The “2H 2025” refers to the second half of this year. The “Focus on AI/Health for premium tablet/wearables” reference hints at an AI-focused Galaxy Tab S11 series and a new Galaxy Watch.

Since this section is essentially referring to the new products it intends to release by the end of this year, it’s as big a hint as any from Samsung that its long-awaited XR headset would likely be launched before the sun sets on 2025.

Google has also hinted at the headset’s launch for the same time frame. The company has mentioned that Android XR will be publicly launched this year, and since Samsung’s is the only headset confirmed to run on this platform so far, it’s not difficult to connect the dots.
